It’s Tuesday, and yet everyone is still chattering away about Sunday’s telecast of the 2010 Oscars. While Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met You Mother) may have put on a memorable music opening, it’s the events that took place afterward that would serve as worthy gossip for probably the remainder of the week.
Sure you had actor George Clooney, who practically looked annoyed through half of the telecast. But in spite of Clooney’s look of sheer boredom-Later on that night, there would luckily be more slightly awkward and eventful moments at the prestigious event.
No one could deny Mo’Nique her award for “Best Supporting Actress” .The highlight was when the 43-year-old thanked the Academy Awards for choosing “performance over politics” in her speech. As a tribute to the late Hattie McDaniel, the first African American woman to earn an Academy Award, Mo’Nique wore a elegant blue gown with a flower in hair.
It was only a brief second but if you noticed, Samuel L. Jackson looks on displeased after Mo’Nique walked offstage. Did Jackson feel Monique’s win was undeserved? Or is there a back story between the two? Whatever the case, it was a highlight at this year’s Academy Awards.
It was a big “WTF?” moment when director Roger Ross Williams went to accept his award for for best documentary ( for the film “Music by Prudence”), and was suddenly interrupted by a unknown woman at the time-Elinor Burkett. Apparently Burkett and Williams didn’t see eye-to-eye on the documentary which caused Elinor Burkett to step down from filming.
Over the years, we’ve seen several presenters come out to introduce categories, but none could top Ben Stiller who was dressed as a “Avatar”.
